Keeping the heart

Let us increase our piety to Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala because Allah subhanahu wa ta’ala gave us the order to be truthful with piety until the end of our lives,

Allah says:

يَا أَيُّهَا الَّذِيْنَ آمَنُوا اتَّقُوا اللهَ حَقَّ تُقَاتِهِ وَلَا تَمُوْتُنَّ إِلَّا وَأَنْتُمْ مُسْلِمُوْن

O people who believe, fear that you are truly taqwa, don’t you die unless you are Muslim.

Among the virtues of taqwa, Allah also gives gifts in the form of unexpected sustenance and makes all our affairs easier

وَمَن يَتَّقِ الله يَجْعَل لَّهُ مَخْرَجًا وَيَرْزُقْهُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَحْتَسِبُ

And whoever is devout to Allah, then Allah will give him a way out and provide sustenance from the unexpected.


The Prophet said:

أَلَا إِنَّ فِي الجَسَدِ مُضْغَةً إِذَا صَلَحَتْ صَلَحَ الجَسَدُ كُلُّهُ

, وَإِذَا فَسَدَتْ فَسَدَ الجَسَدُ كُلُّهُ أَلَا وَهِيَ القَلْبُ

You really know that there are lumps of flesh inside the body, if the lump of meat is good, then the whole body will be good

if the flesh is bad the whole body will be bad too

know the meat is the heart

If we take care of our hearts, we give advice on religious knowledge, we provide intake of religious knowledge, we provide guidance and guidance to heal our hearts, then our hearts will be preserved and our lives are full in the pleasure of Allah swt, but on the other hand, if we let the heart be stained with all the diseases of the liver, without any healing without any guidance for our hearts, then gradually the liver disease gets bigger and bigger, the liver disease will be more acute and difficult to cure.


Among the diseases of the liver is hatred or in Arabic it is called Hiqd


hatred may not be in the form of complete hatred at first, it is just a bit of a feeling of anger, but the feeling of anger is buried and then buried like a small fire but then grows irresistibly and the growing flames start to feel at home in the heart, to anger it turns into hatred, that’s how Imam Ghozali explains how the origin of hatred happened in the book Ihya Ulumuddin.

The meaning of hatred itself is when the heart is used to feeling heavy to be reluctant to get close to it

then hate for something and that feeling is there and stays in our heart.

Prophet Muhammad Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam said

المُؤْمِن لَيْسَ بِحَقُوْدٍ

The believers are not people who hate

Imam Ghazali Speaks

فَالحِقْد ثَمْرَةُ الغَضَب

Hatred is the fruit of anger

Imam Al Ghazali continued his explanation that hatred would result in 8 cases.

First the nature of hasud is born, which means hasud is when you wish to eliminate the enjoyment that is in the believer’s brother and are happy when the believer’s brother is hit by a disaster and hasud is the characteristic of hypocrites.

Secondly, the nature of hatred will produce a sense of passion that will continue to grow because it keeps it in the heart so that the nature of passion and jealousy becomes a character that will certainly harm oneself, both in the world in the form of an unsettled life and in the afterlife in the form of wrath and torment from Allah SWT.

the third, hatred will make the brotherhood of fellow Muslims break apart, an attitude will be born to stay away from and be hostile to it.

The fourth, hateful nature will make someone look down on the believer’s brother, will always look at him with a humble gaze and feel he is more than others.

The fifth nature of hate will make someone dare to talk about inappropriate things in the form of lies or backbiting and spreading badness and exposing the disgrace of the believers

the sixth nature of hatred will make someone talk and say something as a form of insult as a form of ridicule, he begins to dare to hurt his fellow Muslims with his mouth, the tongue is not repeated but its role can hurt a heart like a sharp sword

seventh after hatred makes you dare to speak behind your Muslim brothers with a variety of backbiting and slander, after hatred makes you dare to injure with your mouth, then hatred will make you start taking steps towards physical violence, hatred will invite you to start hurting your body and attacking your body.


the eighth Hatred will begin to ignore the rights of others, will not pay other people’s debts, and dare to break the ties of all things are not permitted in religion

Therefore the Prophet sallallaahu alaihi wasallam said

الحَسَد يَأْكُلُ الحَسَنَات كَمَا تَأْكُلُ النَّار الخ


hasud nature will eat good as fire eats firewood


When sedition is petrified in the heart into character, it will be difficult to heal


as a verse says

كُلُّ العَدَاوَةِ قَدْ تُرْجَى مَوَدَّتُهَا إِلَّا عَدَاوَةٌ مَنْ عَادَاكَ عَنْ حَسَدِ

every hostility can definitely be expected to make up and there is love, except the enemy who is hostile to you because of hasud

Indeed, the life of a person who hasud will not be calm in the world, because he is busy with his rotten heart which drains his energy, and Allah will also repay him in the hereafter so hasud has a loss both in the world and in the hereafter in the form of inner unrest. in the form of the wrath of Allah Subhanahu Wa Ta’ala


So among the ways to cleanse ourselves from the nature of hatred and passion, we must learn to participate happily when our brothers and sisters are happy, we have to humble ourselves, we must have tawadhu, we have to restrain our egos, we have to curb pride and our arrogance, we are aware of all the pleasures Allah has given us, then why should we be angry and jealous, we just ask Allah and Allah will give the best for us.


As for those of us who have felt harassed by others, then be patient because everyone who has a blessing must have someone to judge. That is a line of life,

كُلُّ ذِي نِعْمَةٍ مَحْسُود

then our duty is Rida with the provision of Allah to be patient, to keep in touch, to keep doing good to everyone, not to reduce the rights of others even though we know someone who accuses us of. then we will be sure that Allah will reward us with a very large degree.


Hopefully we all avoid being far from the nature of hasud and hopefully we can always do good to others even to those who hate and judge us, may Allah give taufiq and guidance to all of us in carrying out his orders and staying away from his prohibitions, may Allah lift the pandemic disaster of the Covid outbreak. 19 / Corona this so that we can carry out activities properly in normal circumstances.
