Sebagai kata kerja (verb):
“Please sit down and make yourself comfortable.”
“من فضلك اجلس واجعل نفسك مرتاحاً.”

“جلس على المقعد وشاهد غروب الشمس.”
“Can you sit here while I go get something to drink?”
“هل يمكنك الجلوس هنا بينما أذهب لأحضر شيئاً للشرب؟”
Dalam bentuk perintah atau instruksi:
“Everyone, please sit quietly while I read the story.”
“الجميع، من فضلكم اجلسوا بهدوء بينما أقرأ القصة.”
“The teacher asked the students to sit in a circle.”
“طلب المعلم من الطلاب أن يجلسوا في دائرة.”
Dalam bentuk continuous tense:
“She is sitting by the window, reading a book.”
“هي جالسة بجانب النافذة تقرأ كتاباً.”
“They were sitting in the park when it started to rain.”
“كانوا جالسين في الحديقة عندما بدأ المطر.”
Kata “sit” diterjemahkan menjadi “يجلس” (yajlis) atau “اجلس” (ijlis) dalam bahasa Arab tergantung pada konteks kalimatnya.
